The fall feast days of the Lord are coming up. Reading these posts will help you understand their spiritual significance for Christians. Be sure to click on the links at the bottom of each post for the next in the series. Here are my menus:
Trumpets: expected evening of Wed Oct 1
beef roast/ potato rolls/ roast brussels sprouts, beets, potatoes, carrots, shallots/ fruit compote/ ginger honey cake
If you can come, we will be having this feast on Wed Oct 1 at Chris and Dave’s, 6 pm. Bring an appetizer or a dessert. Hey, it’s a feast day to honor the Lord, there cannot be too much food!!
Atonement: expected to begin evening of Fri Oct 10This is a fast day. I have been working on sticking to my detox diet, and have yet to be successful with every element. In the ten days between Trumpets and Atonement, it will be my priority to stick to it successfully; then I will do the juice fast on Atonement.
Tabernacles: expected to begin evening of Wed Oct 15, and the last feast meal will be Tue Oct 21. We have tickets for the Feast of Tabernacles shindig at church for Tue Oct 21 (Kellie – we got tickets for you and Zach and Katie that night too. Steph and kids and Sarah also have tickets for that night.)
Wed Oct 15: smoked turkey/ garlic mashed potatoes/ creamed onions/ squash/ pumpkin pie
Thu Oct 16: steaks/ twice baked potatoes/ corn on the cob/ apple pie
Fri Oct 17: roasted red pepper chicken/ ranch fries/ brocolli & cauliflower with cheese sauce/ chocolate cake
Sat Oct 18: lasagne/ garlic bread/ caesar salad/ cheesecake (we will eat at 4:00 pm before church)
Sun Oct 19: beef stroganoff/ potato rolls/ glazed carrots/ salad/ creme brulee
Mon Oct 20: honey baked chicken/ dirty rice/ french peas/ blackberry cobbler with ice cream
Tue Oct 21: chinese take out, brought to the church shindig (that is our plan – if any of you want to pitch in some cash and tell us your favorite dishes, we can bring half a dozen or so different entrees with egg rolls and dumplings to share around!!)
You are welcome to come to any and all of Tabernacles feasts! Bring an appetizer if you do, and let me know a few days in advance that you are coming so I can make sure I have enough! I especially will want folks over on Fri, Sat, and Sun! Dave will be gone hunting and the thought of making all this food for just myself is depressing! Maybe we can have a family dinner on Sun at Kellie’s (how do you like me volunteering you, Kel) and I can bring the stroganoff and potato rolls and everyone else can do the rest of the sides and dessert, of course, whatever you want, not what I have written down.
