Memorial Day was begun as a remembrance day for the fallen soldiers of the Civil War, by southern ladies who decorated both Confederate and Union graves. Today I am meeting my brother (yes, the same one who rescued me from the bully as a child) at the cemetary where my grandparents are buried to lay flowers on their graves. Now that my Mom is gone, there is no one else to remember my grandparents. Then we are going to our parents’ graves to lay flowers. Then, I am planning on working on my new grandbaby’s baby quilt the rest of the day (my daughter has not yet gone into labor, but she is due any day now). My sweet dh is getting our garden ready for planting today, and that is my day today, Lord willing. Be blessed in your Memorial Day celebrations.
