Exo 6:2-7:7
Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am YHVH; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am YHVH your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am YHVH.’” Exo 6:6-8
Egypt is a prophetic type for the kingdom of darkness, where God’s people are enslaved. Moses is a prophetic type for Messiah, who God sends to deliver them. When YHVH rescues us from our bondage and from under the burden of the kingdom of darkness through His Servant Messiah Yeshua, then He takes us as His people, and He becomes our God.
Exo 7:8-8:19
The chiastic structure which Exo 7:8-8:19 forms has as its central axis, the sentence fragment:
And seven days were fulfilled … Exo 7:25
Why out of all that could be the central axis and the main point of the passage, is this the central axis? Seven days is a full week, and the seventh of those days is a day of rest from the labor we inherited as a result of sin – the first teacher of the Gospel of grace in Torah. It’s a length of time representing a complete whole, in which there were no plagues or judgments. The central axis highlights the fact that God is providing time, after one plague ends, and before the next begins, so that men can reflect on what has just transpired, meditate on its meaning, and come to repentance, and then salvation, as the miracles attest that the “kingdom of God is at hand.”
Now after John was put in prison, Yeshua came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mar 1:14-15
Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? Rom 2:4
Exo 8:20-9:35
“And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am YHVH in the midst of the land. I will make a difference between My people and your people.” Exo 8:22-23
The Hebrew here says literally, “I will set a ransom between My people and your people.” The ransom which has been set, which makes a difference between YHVH’s people and the people of the kingdom of darkness, is the blood of the Lord Yeshua Messiah.
