The C pair reveals that idols are the work of men’s hands, whereas heaven and earth are the work of God’s hands. The D pair reveals the fate of those who trust in worthless idols. It is helplessness, being without help in the world, for they are unable to effect help; whereas the fate of those who trust in the Lord, is help: greater and greater increase, and not only for us, but for our children as well. As in the past several psalms, there is no strong division at the conclusion of this psalm.
